The Long and Ardous Wait to the Much Anticipated Fight on May 2, 2009
It is 1:25 PM here in Muntinlupa City, Philippines—a city south of Manila and one of the most economically viable place in this country because it is where the Ayala-Alabang Subdivision is situated where most of the richest personalities in the Philippines abode. My place is not where I just mentioned but in between the City Hall and the New Bilibid Prison.
The prison is where the most feared criminals are locked up including those of the terrorist type that is why this city is actually connotative with the Prison.
When somebody asked you where you live and you say Muntinlupa, they would asked—Inside or Outside? Then they would giggle and show that they are just kidding. Actually that was one way of starting a conversation specially with you do not know who pinoy.
Anyway I just read an the article by Michael Klimes calling the coming fight between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao so intriguing. Well, he clearly described what so intriguing with this fight and so it has helped in reinforcing my desire to see it the soonest. And when I come to my senses, May 2 is still 78 days away. Whew! What a wait, I told to myself.
So I decided to write this piece to divert my mind from the seemingly long and ardous wait come fight time. So here it is.
From far away land with harbor of fishing boats,
there comes a lad of humble beginnings.
Whose only toil is to make ends meet,
and rewards himself with mom's smile he can't forget.
And so it seems the burden becomes heavier,
and all salt mines becomes smaller,
The young lad decided to get bolder,
and finds himself a professional boxer.
At first the world seems friendly,
winning his fights in successive envy.
It got to his head and fought carelessly,
and hit wall of a fighter and paid dearly in three.
Uncontrolled emotions flying high,
he decided to set foot on an another task.
To forget boxing and walk the normal path,
and earn his salary without getting hurt.
But then fate may already been written,
his destiny is of divine pleading.
A dream makes him a lot stronger,
because he was favored by the Divine Healer.
To be continued...see ya!
