WWE: WWE to Produce Halle Berry Movie: A Good Move?

Voodoo MagicJun 7, 2018

According to Wrestle Zone (by way of deadline.com), WWE is going to be producing an upcoming film starring Halle Berry:

"

Deadline.com is reporting that WWE will be co-producing the upcoming thriller film "The Hive," starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin.

Principal photography for the film begins this summer, and the synopsis is as follows:

"The Hive" is the story of an emergency call center operator who takes a call from a teenage girl who has been abducted and locked in the trunk of a car.

"

Color me a bit skeptical. However, is this a step in the right direction for WWE's outside projects?

While Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin haven't been super-active in any major blockbusters as of late, they are still two very big names in Hollywood.

My question is this: Is WWE trying to move in a different direction by trying to make better movies (and thereby improving their image among non-fans), or is this more a sign of what has happened to the careers of Berry and Breslin?

We know that WWE is not finished making movies (as evidenced by The Miz starring in the newest Marine film). However, the movies that have come from them have been across the board trash (some more enjoyable than others—but still).

Will this newest release start a more positive trend?  The brief synopsis of the film makes it seem like it's more of the same, but good movies have been made from worse premises than this.

Also, will this film star one of WWE's own superstars in the main villain role (and thereby increase the company's mainstream exposure)? If so, who do you think it might star?
