NHL Free Agents 2012: Latest Buzz on Unsigned Superstars
The 2012 NHL free agency period begins on Sunday, July 1, and before the flurry of signings and hockey landscape-altering moves begin, let's take a look at the latest buzz surrounding some of the top unsigned superstars.
Zach Parise
According to Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger, New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise will still be listening to offers from his current team even if he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Parise told The Star-Ledger the following:
"“If that does happen, my agents have done a really good job of doing the best they can to prepare me for it. But first and foremost, we want to try to get things worked out with New Jersey."

Alexander Semin
According to a Wednesday tweet by TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, there is a good chance that the Washington Capitals trade Alexander Semin this offseason:
"Far from newsbreaking, but, good possibility the Capitals trade Alex Semin's rights.

The 28-year-old left winger scored 21 goals and recorded 33 assists for the Caps in 2011-12, helping them reach the Eastern Conference semifinals this past spring.
PA Parenteau
The Ottawa Senators are reportedly interested in acquiring the 29-year-old winger this offseason, according to a Wednesday report by The Ottawa Citizen.
Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau played in 80 games for the New York Islanders last season, scoring 18 goals and tallying 49 assists. Only center John Tavares and left winger Matt Moulson totaled more points for the Islanders than Parenteau.
Matt Carle
The Philadelphia Flyers would love to have defenseman Matt Carle back next season, according to general manager Paul Holmgren in a Wednesday report by csnphilly.com.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the Flames recent signing of defenseman Dennis Wideman (five-year, $26.25 million) may have made Carle that much more expensive to sign in free agency. If the cost gets too high the Flyers may have to part ways with Carle, who scored four goals and recorded 34 assists last season in 82 games for Philly.
