SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 63, Spencer Ware, LSU RB
The SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players in the SEC every day, concluding on Aug. 30, at the start of the college football regular season.
63. Spencer Ware, No. 11, LSU Running Back
2011 stats: 177 carries for 707 yards and eight touchdowns, 11 catches for 73 yards and one touchdown
Strengths
Ware started the season as the leader of LSU's vaunted four-headed monster at running back. He led the team in carries with 177 and finished second on the Tigers in yards with 707.
The 5'11", 223-pound rising junior has the ability to take a pounding between the tackles and can make defenders miss in space.
Weaknesses
His production tapered off late last season. Prior to being suspended for the Auburn game, Ware topped the 20-carry mark five times, but only reached double digits in carries twice during the final six games of the season. During that time, fellow running back Michael Ford emerged as the more dependable back.
2012 Prediction
Ware has cut some weight issues and is back to be a big part of LSU's four horsemen at running back.
With so much talent in the backfield, none of the LSU running backs are going to contend for national individual awards. That being said, Les Miles and company know how to get the most out of each of them, and will put them in positions to succeed.
