Andrea Pirlo, Italy

The 33-year-old may not be the most athletic or fast man on the pitch, but he’s possibly the best at controlling it and organizing incredible attacks. He’s also perfectly capable of scoring, having notched a great score against Croatia and hit an amazing penalty against England.

Germany is going to have to deny the midfielder the ball in order to stifle the Italian attack that runs through the Juventus star.

Philipp Lahm, Germany

Lahm is one of the better defenders in the world and has the capacity to score. Against Greece in the quarterfinals, Lahm broke the match open with a solid strike and performed admirably in stopping much of the Greek attempts at counter-attacking.

The left back will need to come through as a major stopper if Germany wants to advance to the finals against the Italian side.
