TNA Impact Wrestling: Complete Preview, Rumors, News and More for June 28
With another ridiculous week of TNA Impact Wrestling behind us, it’s time to look forward to a show that features no more AJ Styles/Dixie Carter storyline.
You’re welcome, wrestling fans; the nightmare is over.
It looks like TNA has turned a creative corner and is quickly realizing what works and what doesn’t.
Let’s hope they keep that trend up this week now that some of the lesser stories have hopefully been wrapped up for good.
Where: Universal Studios, Orlando, Fla.
When: Thursday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ET
Watch: SPIKE TV
Robert Roode and Austin Aries
While the wrestling world complains about what the WWE is doing with their top champions and storylines, TNA is placing the focus on the company's two best wrestlers and two champions. This is great.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Roode vs. Aries live up to the hype?
While I want to say this will be everything we want and more, my fear is that TNA will screw this up by tainting the finish in the wrong way. I completely think Roode will retain at Destination X, but he has to go over in a way that makes both men look strong.
Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 main event storylines we care about
Say what you want about TNA’s direction over the last few years, but they have changed the way they run the show. Allowing Roode and Aries to feud for the title is something new and interesting, and it’s the best way to get people to care.
Tag-Team Title Match Main Event
While Slammiversary wasn’t the best pay-per-view, it was highlighted by an amazing match between AJ Styles and Kurt Angle vs. Kazarian and Christopher Daniels for the tag-team straps.
Now that the storyline between Dixie Carter has concluded (hopefully), it’s time for Styles to get his revenge.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will this match be as good as the one on the PPV?
While this will not be as good because of the natural infusion of more storyline aspects, the quality of in-ring work will be worthy of an Impact main event. WWE needs to take notes on how to finish a show.
Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Dixie Carter storylines
The reason this doesn’t get 5 out of 5 is because I know TNA will try and talk about the whole drug addict storyline at least one more time. While we all hope it’s a five-minute clip before the match and the battle is free of it, that likely won't be the case.

Bound for Glory Series Madness
With the combination of the Bound for Glory Series and Open Fight Night, TNA Impact is turning into the wild west of storylines. They need to start building some long-term feuds like they have done with Bully Ray and Joseph Park.
Question on Everybody's Mind: Will the BFG series ruin or help TNA?
While the idea of the Bound for Glory series is great, it is always TNA’s execution that concerns me. If they can manage to intertwine the smaller storylines with the tournament, then this will turn the company into a legitimate contender to WWE sooner rather than later.
Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 inevitable James Storm vs. Bobby Roode matches
While the ending may just be clear because they want to swerve us, the fans should just enjoy the ride no matter where it goes. If it does end up being James Storm who wins the Bound for Glory Series, that’s not terrible at all.
I’ll take two homegrown TNA talents main-eventing the company’s biggest show any day of the week; that’s proof they have made it big.
