Denver Broncos: Offseason Analysis

The Broncos shocked us by canning Mike Shanahan. Fantasy owners grew tired of his shenanigans. Things may not change much on that front as Josh Daniels comes from Bill Belichick’s family line, meaning he may not always be forthright on his injury reports either. 

The Broncos are set at QB with Jay Cutler, at WRs with Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, and Brandon Stokley, and at TE with Tony Scheffler and Daniel Graham. However, the running back position is in need of improvement. 

I think Shanahan let the past successes he had at running back go to his head a bit, as he hasn’t really had a dependable back since Mike Anderson in 2005. That is an area that is in dire need of attention. That, and their porous defense needs help.

Nate Webster and Kenny Peterson are their main free-agents on defense, but this unit needs some major overhauling. They finished 29th in yards allowed (27th against the run, 26th against the pass,) and 30th in points allowed. 

They were 26th in sacks, and dead last in creating turnovers, with just 13 takeaways. Clearly this is the area that needs to be addressed, and it surprises me that they went with an offensive-minded coach.
