SEC Football Tweets of the Week: Tyrann Mathieu Motivated by His Critics
Every Friday on the SEC Blog, we will feature the tweets of the week from SEC players, coaches and media personalities.
LSU cornerback/punt returner Tyrann Mathieu isn't afraid to share his thoughts on Twitter. He famously participated in this back-and-forth with Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron on June 11.
Mathieu was clearly targeted by McCarron in LSU's 21-0 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game. He knows it, and he took to Twitter this week to defend himself:
"Can anyone bring up another game where you felt as if I was exposed beside the NC game! I didn't think so? That was one game, 4 catches 0TDs
— Tyrann Mathieu (@TM7_Era) June 21, 2012"
Mathieu then subtly complimented McCarron's performance in the BCS National Championship Game:
"I wish a QB threw me 4 pop flies a game, I'd have 20 INTs also! But when they throw my way it's usually a perfect pass and amazing catch
— Tyrann Mathieu (@TM7_Era) June 21, 2012"
Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen is apparently hard at work with strength and conditioning coach Kevin Yoxall down on The Plains:
"Yox you win again... You always do...#fridays #jellolegs #coldtub #chillin #GAdome #MACKEY
— Philip Lutzenkirchen (@lutzenkirchen) June 22, 2012"
South Carolina fans, if you're looking for info on how running back Marcus Lattimore is recovering from last season's knee injury, don't bother looking on Twitter:
"Season coming up time to cut twitter off!! See yall in January in Miami #gamecocknation ....holla
— Marcus Lattimore (@LattTwoOne) June 16, 2012"
Bill King of the Junkyard Blawg on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution asked last week if Georgia should consider bringing back the black jerseys that were made famous during the 2007 season.
Jerry Stinchcomb posted an image from the Between The Hedges Facebook page that takes alternate Georgia uniforms to the next level—camouflage helmets:
"@Bigrank9 @abynum55 @ShaqWiggins21 @Trigga_Tray28 @BriceRamsey hope yall ain't scared to wear these next year twitter.com/VVstinchcomb/s…
— jerry stinchcomb (@VVstinchcomb) June 20, 2012"
After what happened the last three times Georgia significantly altered its uniforms—2008 vs. Alabama, 2009 vs. Florida and 2011 vs. Boise State—maybe that's not the best idea.
Have a great weekend, SEC fans.
