Van Persie Scores Hat Trick of Player of the Month Award, Perhaps to Captain?

Callum D'SouzaFeb 12, 2009

Robin van Persie was voted Arsenal player of the month for the third consecutive time this season. He managed to score and amazing 88% percent of votes with Samir Nasri the next closest with 5%.

The inform Dutch striker who has heroically managed to ensure his body doesn't play up has hit incredible form and is Arsenal's current leading scorer and goal assitant. I think he deserves the Captaincy, dont you?

He has easily been Arsenal's top performer, though Bacary Sagna has been a consistent performer. Van Persie for a while now has looked especially dominant but injuries have hampered his contribution to Arsenal. He has always scored consistently and now that he is one of the oldest and experienced players on this youthful Arsenal squad I think he deserves the captaincy of Manuel Almunia and Kolo Toure.

With normal Captain Cesc Fabregas still out injured for at least another six weeks van Persie is ideal to warm the captaincy seat. Manuel Almunia is no doubt a good leader but I think Arsenal would benefit more from an on field player rather than a goal keeper.

Kolo Toure the current vice captain I feel is too inconsistent and should shift the captaincy over to van Persie whilst he attempts to get back to form.

His recent form has sparked great interest from the European Giants, such as Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona. The Dutchmen has supposedly been after a pay rise for a couple of months and it would do alot of good if Arsenal fulfilled their dynamos needs.

With Arsenal chasing a top four finish the signs are looking good to ensure they play in the Champions league with many injured players coming back into fitness. Midfielders Tomas Rosicky, Theo Walcott, and Cesc Fabregas are all due to return in the next four to 10 weeks the Arsenal midfield which is currently lacking physical presence, leadership and natural ability.

The Arsenal midfield with the likes of Samir Nasri, new talent Andrei Arsharvin, and Carlos Vela should be almost unstoppable.

Plus with Eduardo due to make his Arsenal comeback after his horror injury means the Arsenal attack becomes and even more dominant force. Edaurdo and van Perise work very well together upfront with their balance, power and pace plus their rare ability to be silkily smooth and calm when in the goal square.

The future is looking brighter and hopefully Arsenal can capitalize on the return of key players.
