When last they met, the Irish were 2-1 in conference play and considered a legitimate Big East contender, while the Cardinals were struggling to prove they deserved their preseason praise.

How the tables have turned.

The Irish have now lost seven straight and sit in 12th in the Big East, while the Cardinals are second in the standing and have only lost to UConn.

Notre Dame's problems stem from their lack of depth—an issue brought to light by Louisville in their earlier meeting. After going into overtime, the Cardinals outscored the Irish by 14 in the extra five minutes.

That's not to say that the Irish don't have quality players on their team—they do have the reigning Big East Player of the Year and another who can casually hit threes from half-court. The real issue is that in order for a team to be successful, there has to be more than one or two key players. The team has to be able to rely on itself and not just on the shoulders of the big man down low.
