AC Milan Transfer News: Kevin Constant and Francesco Acerbi to Join Club

Tim FontenaultJun 7, 2018

AC Milan continue to work with Genoa in the transfer market, as center back Francesco Acerbi and midfielder Kevin Constant will join Milan on loan this coming season.

Genoa's official website confirmed the moves on Wednesday. The announcement said that the club had reached a resolution with Chievo Verona over the co-ownership of Acerbi, and that they had agreed with Milan to a similar deal. Constant's move is a one-year loan with an option to buy for Milan.

Acerbi finally gets his dream move. After coming on strong at the end of the 2011-12 season, Acerbi drew attention from Milan who are looking to replace outgoing legend Alessandro Nesta. Acerbi has made no attempt to hide his desire to play for Milan. He was born in Dresano, 20 km southwest of Milan and ever since the rumors began to circulate, he has said how excited he is about the possibility of playing for his local big club.

Constant's addition into the deal was one made after Milan learned they would be without midfielder Sully Muntari for the next five-six months. Muntari, who just signed permanently from Inter Milan after a solid loan spell, picked up an injury while playing for Ghana on international duty.

Constant was been in Serie A for two seasons. He joined Chievo Verona in 2010 from French side Châteauroux. After a one-year-loan, Chievo bought him and sold him to Genoa, where he played 21 times last season. Milan see him as a way to replace Muntari.

Both players will undergo medicals sometime in the coming days and will officially join the club on July 1.
