Sunrise in the NFC East: The Division's Top Links on June 20, 2012

Jun 7, 2018

The summer solstice has arrived, and so it's fitting that it's 100 degrees Fahrenheit here in the B/R NFC East headquarters (which are in an undisclosed location approximately 100 miles north of Buffalo). What's that you say? None of this has anything to do with the NFC East? Sure, but I've successfully written an introductory paragraph.

Despite the fact Kyle Orton is one of the best backups in the league, ESPN Dallas blogger Tim McMahon thinks the Cowboys should consider trading for on-the-block Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.

A pair of former Cowboys have been hard on the team this week, with Darren Woodson criticizing their tackling and Randy White wondering if they can back up their talk on the field.

At least current players are a little more excited. Dan Connor spoke to Jon Machota of Fox Sports Southwest about competing for a starting spot in Dallas, while calling the Cowboys "an unbelievable team."

The New York media has pretty much disappeared, so I'll give you this story on Eli wanting an at-bat against MLB knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.

Nothing's confirmed, but it looks like the Eagles are going to sign veteran safety Oshiomogho Atogwe to provide experience and depth in the secondary. Ideally, the team won't have to count on the 31-year-old, but the ball-hawk might be able to serve as a quality presence from time to time on passing downs.

Philly.com's Sheil Kapadia thinks trading for Colt McCoy at this point makes little sense. I agree that this would be an odd time to pull the trigger, but I also think McCoy provides an obvious upgrade over Mike Kafka and Trent Edwards.

With Robert Griffin III and a new sense of optimism, every seat has been sold within FedEx Field this year, which means the 'Skins are now ready to ask you to pay to stand up and watch RG3 do his thing.

In his minicamp takeaways column, Rich Tandler notes that RG3 still has a long way to go and expresses concern over the depth at running back.
