Euro 2012 Live Stream: Germany in Perfect Position for Deep Run

Nobody will be entering the quarterfinals of the 2012 Euro Cup with an easier road ahead then the Germans.

Mario Gomez already has racked up three goals, and Lukas Podolski is fresh off scoring a goal in his 100th career international match. Bastian Schweinsteiger has notched two assists to complete the most formidable offense thus far in the tournament.  

Germany is dominating the time of possession and seem to always be in complete control with prolific passing and outstanding team chemistry. The defense has rarely been tested, and it's been up to the challenge each and every time the ball has crossed midfield.

Germany is the only team to collect three wins in group play and lucked out when Greece pulled off the upset of the tournament in their 1-0 win over Russia. Germany and Greece will meet on Friday at 2:45 p.m. ET (streamed Live on ESPN3) with a berth to the semifinals on the line.

This is a completely one-sided match that should be won by a multiple-goal margin by the stronger and more athletic Germans. This match also signifies a clash between two countries facing off against each other in the world finical crisis. It will be an interesting matchup from that perspective, but the actual match against the 2004 Euro Cup winners should be a blowout.

That means the road to the semifinals will be rather pressure-free, which means the Germans are going to be in top form when they play either Italy or France/England depending on the results of Tuesday’s Group D action and the consequent quarterfinal.

Germany won’t have to face Spain or the Czech Republic until the finals, and I still would bet them as the favorites over those two squads.

Sure, there is still plenty of soccer to be played and anything can happen, but there is no question that the Germans are exiting group play in the best shape of any team in the tournament.

A loss in anything short of the finals would be shocking.
