WWE No Way Out 2012 Results: Dolph Ziggler's Time Is Coming at Money in the Bank

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

Dolph Ziggler is on the verge of becoming a permanent fixture in the WWE main-event scene, which is good news for him, the business and the fans.

At No Way Out on Sunday night, Ziggler was put in a position to fail. He got thrown into a world championship match against Sheamus thanks to an injury suffered by Alberto Del Rio two weeks ago.

The match at No Way Out was fine, though it wasn't up to the standards that Ziggler and Sheamus have set in matches on RAW and SmackDown in recent weeks.

That said, Ziggler is going to get his mojo back at the next pay-per-view, Money in the Bank. WWE has handled Ziggler so badly this year by burying him in a championship match against CM Punk at the Royal Rumble to never being allowed to win on television or pay-per-views in the five months since.

Ziggler came into 2012 with a world of promise, thanks to a strong finish to last year with great matches seemingly every night he wrestled. He was getting spotlight matches against Randy Orton, John Cena and CM Punk, among others.

Now, Ziggler has reverted back to being "just another guy" in the WWE because the company has done absolutely nothing with him in the last six months. It is going to take time to build him back up to the star he was supposed to become, but WWE has a golden opportunity to start at Money in the Bank.

It would be a shock if Ziggler did not at least participate in one of the two Money in the Bank ladder matches, so what better time to start his road to recovery?

By giving Ziggler a guaranteed title shot at some point this year, WWE can work on rehabilitating his image over time by giving him wins and a strong push to turn him into the superstar we all expect him to become before putting the championship on him.

I will admit that a lot of this is wishful thinking because WWE has a habit of not building up its stars in a way that turns them into draws. But Ziggler is so good, and deserves so much better than he has gotten, that Money in the Bank is a rare chance for WWE to hit the reset button with one of its most talented performers.
