Le Mans 2012 Results: Audi Delivering a Solid Performance in Epic Endurance Race
Audi is off to an impressive start at the 80th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.
Audi have won 10 of the last 12 Le Mans endurance races and are looking to make it 11 of 13 thanks to the dominance of their hybrid R18 race cars, which have been running towards the front early on.
More than four hours into the classic 24-hour endurance race, two e-tron quattros have cracked the Top 5, while a pair of Toyota hybrids are running in the Top 3.
Toyota has not competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in over a decade, finishing second in its last running back in 1999.
Audi is looking to notch the first ever hybrid victory at Le Mans, and it seems as if they may very well accomplish their goal based on how well the cars are performing Saturday.
Still, though, anything can happen as the high performance race cars must last a grueling 24 hours on the Circuit de la Sarthe. Each team will have three drivers to interchange throughout the race in order to give the others time to rest and refuel.
If you had to put your money on a winner though, you would be wise to choose Audi, who are now less than a full day away from adding to their incredible legacy at Le Mans with yet another brilliant finish.
