Boston Celtics: 5 Funniest Interviews of the Season

Patrick BusconeJun 3, 2018

The NBA fined Kevin Garnett $25,000 for not talking to reporters after the team lost to the Miami Heat earlier this week. It was league policy to do so and they would have fined any player.

However, it seems just as likely that the NBA were quick to fine Garnett because the league and the fans missed out on the chance for another memorable interview with the Boston superstar.

Throughout the season, Garnett and the rest of the Celtics delivered a wide variety of entertaining interviews.

Here are the five best interviews of the season.

5. Rajon Rondo Calls out the Miami Heat

1 of 5

You've got to give Doris Burke credit here—Rondo completely disregarded her question, threw her a complete curveball of an answer and she didn't even skip a beat. She went right into her next question like nothing happened.

After the game, she asked him about what he said at halftime and he stood by it wholeheartedly. If you watch the video of his postgame interview with her, he seems to mouth the words, "are you trying to get me fined?"

In the end, he would not be fined for these comments.

4. The Jungle

2 of 5

Kevin Garnett is an intense guy and he clearly loves it when the fans in the arena match his intensity on the court. It's hard to do, but the Celtics fans are some of the best in sports and KG recognizes that.

Garnett may never play a game in the Celtic green again or even another game in "The Jungle." If that is the case, then he will be missed. The Boston fans and The Big Ticket proved to be the perfect pairing. Each fed off the other's energy and intensity.

If he never plays as a Celtic again, the fans sent him out the right way. The Jungle was still rocking even when Game 6 was all over.

3. Mickael Pietrus Crazy Postgame Interview

3 of 5

It would seem here that Mickael Pietrus is still concussed—there's no other way to describe an interview this ridiculous.

Upon further inspection, you would realize that Pietrus is like this all the time.

You want more evidence of him at a time when he is definitely not concussed? How about this or this?

It's safe to say that the concussion had no impact on his interview. He really is just crazy—concussed or not.

2. "It May Not Be"

4 of 5

The curse and the blessing of Rajon Rondo is his arrogance. It can either fuel him to light up the box score and dominate in every aspect of the game, or it can bait him into poor decisions.

Here, it just leads to yet another memorable postgame interview.

It wasn't the first time someone had questioned the Celtics' average age, and Rondo was clearly fed up. He sent a message to the remaining teams in the playoffs that the Celtics would "fine."

Until the Game 7 loss to the Heat, they were.

1. Bar Fight

5 of 5

Following the best comeback win of the season, Kevin Garnett was able to make it even better with this interview.

His words during the one-to-one provided certain foreshadowing, though. For the second half of the season and the playoffs, every game was a bar fight for the Celtics.

They fought for everything and it nearly earned them a finals berth. People will truly remember this season as "the bar fight" season for the Celtics.
