US Open Golf Results 2012: Early Morning Results for Day 1
With two marquee groupings in the 2012 US Open, there is little else to really look forward to other than watching these elite superstars take to the tee.
Unfortunately, things are looking a bit rough right now for two of the three gentlemen that started early this morning.
Let’s take a look at how they are performing and what to expect going forward.
Woods has been excellent in first round of the tournament so far. He’s two-under par through 15 holes and is showing absolute dominance of Olympic Club in San Francisco.
The only mistake he made all day was a bogey at 14, but he quickly made up for it with a birdie on 17 and then back-to-back birds at 4 and 5.
If he continues playing like this, Tiger is likely going to capture his first major since winning this event back in 2008.
Lefty is struggling in the early going and is six-over through 15. He’s got to get his head into the game and start driving better.
He’s been absolutely awful off the tee, and that is just getting him into trouble as he tries to finish the holes. Phil has barely been able to find the fairways and his putting is subpar.
It’ll be interesting to see if he can turn this around before the cut.
Bubba Watson
If you want to talk about imploding, look no further than Bubba Watson. The 2012 Masters victor is seven-over through 15 and is near the back of the pack. He’s likely to get cut if he continues to golf like this.
It seems he cannot get a grasp of the course in San Fran and desperately needs to figure it out soon.
