No Love Lost Between Leafs and Penguins on Feb. 14 Meeting

The Pittsburgh Penguins, with the top two point-getters in the NHL, might massacre the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have lost three defensemen, when the teams meet on Valentine's Day.

Note: This prediction is subject to change if either team acquires Sean Avery in the interim.

The last time the Maple Leafs played the Penguins, Crosby assisted on Malkin's goal and Malkin assisted on Crosby's goal, but the Leafs still won the game. The 'Guins will be looking for revenge.

Malkin and Crosby continue to lead the NHL in points. The Leafs assigned 19-year-old Luke Schenn to cover the two best forwards in the game, last time. He had his best game of the season and was selected the first star of the game.

Toronto (20-24-9) are in second last place in their division and so is Pittsburgh (26-24-5).

Toronto is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, right behind Pittsburgh.

Although Pittsburgh is second to the the bottom of the Atlantic Division they are still talking about the Stanley Cup play-offs. The Toronto Maple Leafs are in last place in the Northeast, and they are still dreaming about getting good draft picks next year.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the midst of a massive rebuilding project. With 11 players 25-years-old or younger. They recently recalled defenseman Jaime Sifers from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Defenceman Mike Van Ryn has had pair of concussions this year and he suffered a leg injury on Saturday in a game against the Canadiens. Tomas Kaberle went down with a broken hand after stopping a shot in Denver. Farmhand Staffan Kronwall was lost on waivers to Washington when the Leafs tried to call him up to the NHL.

Crosby and Malkin have combined for 44 career points against the Maple Leafs in just 23 games.
