WWE No Way out 2012: Dolph Ziggler Needs to Win World Title Against Sheamus

Nathan GieseJun 7, 2018

This Sunday at No Way Out, Dolph Ziggler will challenge Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship in a match that was determined last night on Raw. Ziggler won the fatal four-way elimination match against Great Khali, Jack Swagger and Christian to earn the slot that was vacated due to Alberto Del Rio's sever concussion.

While some like to think that Ziggler was only given the opportunity in this match because of the need for a quality opponent for Sheamus, given the lack of time for a properly built match now, Ziggler is more than just a filler opponent for the Great White.

There are those who have already written Ziggler off due to the fact that he and Sheamus have squared off twice in the last few weeks, each time Sheamus being victorious over the Show Off. Actually, Ziggler has had a steady losing streak over the last month or so, losing multiple tag team contests with Swagger and one-on-one contest against Christian and Sheamus.

Although always in defeat recently, Ziggler continues to prove time and again that he is an amazing talent and the best bumper in the company. For those reasons, Ziggler needs to win on Sunday to remain relevant in the main event scene or risk being written off completely.

Over the past two years, fans have been clamoring for the Show Off to finally get a huge main event push or even a world title reign. However, none of that has come to be for Dolph just yet as he remains stuck with Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger, both of whom only continue to hold him back from elevating his status within the WWE.

Dolph has had his share of success in the WWE, mostly in the mid-card title scene, holding both the United States and Intercontinental Championships. He's had his chances at both the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships, but each time he puts on a great display he always comes up a little bit short.

Now that Ziggler has this golden opportunity against Sheamus, he needs to win.

Having Ziggler hold the World Heavyweight title, for even less than a month, will propel him to a permanent main stay in the main event scene, something that is desperately needed with the thinning roster of main event talent the continues to get smaller.

This is Ziggler's shining moment and not only will he be expected to put on a dazzling display once again, but also to finally capture the championship that has alluded him throughout his entire career. In a time of needed roster pushes, Dolph Ziggler is the man who needs, and deserves, a World Championship run.

Come Sunday, any doubt that Ziggler deserves a World Championship reign in the WWE will be forever washed from your mind.
