WWE No Way out 2012: Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler Will Steal Show with Epic Match

Tim DanielsJun 5, 2018

Dolph Ziggler finally caught a break. Now, the underutilized WWE superstar has to put on a memorable show with Sheamus to prove he belongs at the main-event level.

An injury to Alberto Del Rio opened up a spot in the World Heavyweight Championship match at No Way Out. Ziggler was able to defeat former champions Christian, Jack Swagger and The Great Khali to become the new No. 1 contender.

Even before that, the tide was starting to move in favor of Ziggler. He's been in an alliance with Jack Swagger and Vickie Guerrero, but he must go out on his own if he wants to become a more successful singles competitor.

There have been signs of that happening in recent weeks, as Ziggler has become disenchanted with Swagger. The sooner he's able to rid himself of the extra baggage and take control of the spotlight for himself, the better his chances of succeeding will be.

Based on overall talent, there are few superstars that can match up with the "Show Off." He's improved his in-ring ability by leaps and bounds since originally joining the WWE eight years ago, turning himself into one of the best pure wrestlers on the roster.

Fans have noticed that improvement as well. When he was battling Christian, a fan favorite in his own right, for the title shot, the chants were actually going in Ziggler's favor. That shows people want to see him get a chance to earn the biggest push of his career.

He hasn't had much time to cut promos, but based on his appearances on Zack Ryder's YouTube show, he will be able to hold his own again in that area too. He's entertaining.

That said, he must first have a good showing at No Way Out to impress the executives who will ultimately decide his future path. Luckily, working with another talented superstar like Sheamus gives him an advantage.

The "Celtic Warrior" has been destroying the competition ever since winning the Royal Rumble, helping him take over as Smackdown's top attraction, especially with Randy Orton out.

He's also one of the few guys capable of making Ziggler look even better than he already is in the ring. They should be able to put on a tremendous show for the fans that will provide a nice boost to each of them moving forward.

Even though the chances of Ziggler winning the match are relatively low given the late switch, that's not the most important thing. He just needs to prove he can hold his own when the spotlight is on him.

Being a part of a show-stealing match would help him do exactly that, and it would mean a lot with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and John Cena also on the card. Ziggler and Sheamus have a great opportunity to outshine them all.

From there, Ziggler should begin a steady ascent to the top of the card where he belongs.
