Nadal vs. Djokovic: Why Djoker Should Be Favorite at Wimbledon Despite Loss
Novak Djokovic wasn't able to make history at the French Open, where he was topped by Rafael Nadal in the final in four sets.
Despite the loss, the Serbian is still the favorite to win Wimbledon.
Rafa is unbeatable at Roland Garros. He is 52-1 in his career at the tournament, with his only loss coming to Robin Soderling three years ago. Other than that, Nadal has always been able to raise his game to another level that nobody can match, winning seven of the last eight French Open titles.
There's no shame in Djoker losing to Rafa in this final. By no means does such a loss to Nadal make the world No. 2 better than the world No. 1 at this moment.
Things will be much different at Wimbledon.
There will be no advantage for Rafa over any player like there is in France. Sure, Nadal has won at Wimbledon before, but he doesn't dominate there like he does at Roland Garros.
Djoker has already won at Wimbledon when he topped Nadal last year in the final. That will instantly give confidence to the Serb moving forward as he looks to recapture the Wimbledon crown for a second straight year.
Rafa should be the only man standing in Djokovic's way, since Roger Federer doesn't seem to be playing at the level of the two biggest challengers at this point in time.
Granted, he's had a ton of success in the past at Wimbledon. Even so, Federer is currently having to prove that he can still hang with the best players in the world after an early exit last year at the hands of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
It should be a relatively easy road to the final for Djoker, and with only one man standing in his way, there's a great chance he can walk out of Wimbledon a champion once again.
