WWE No Way Out: Should Ricardo Rodriguez Replace Alberto Del Rio at No Way Out?

Luis CamposJun 7, 2018

Earlier today, it was reported (via WrestlingInc.com) that the Mexican aristocrat Alberto Del Rio received a concussion during the taping of SmackDown this week. This injury adds to the WWE's already thin roster, which includes Superstars Chris Jericho and Randy Orton—both out on suspension.

Unfortunately for both the WWE and Del Rio, his injury struck him only a week from this month's pay-per-view event No Way Out—begging the question, who will replace him?

While there are multiple candidates on the WWE roster who have been suggested by fans (namely Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler), here is my suggestion for Del Rio's substitute—Ricardo Rodriguez.

I know that Rodriguez's track record in the ring has not been the best, but those who have followed his FCW career as Chimera know that Ricardo is actually a decent wrestler.

In addition to his in-ring work, having Rodriguez as Del Rio's substitute actually seems like a logical idea. As Del Rio's associate, Ricardo could scheme a plan where he replaces Del Rio and promises to win and give the title to his boss upon victory.

Alternatively, Ricardo knowing that a spot is available for the No Way Out match enters a potential Battle Royal to determine who this spot will go to. Here's the kicker, instead of entering as Ricardo Rodriguez, he enters as his Chimera persona and battles with Sheamus as such. The new gimmick could then hold attention on the injured Del Rio and lead to an interesting feud between both men in the future.
