Manny Pacquiao: Loss to Bradley Doesn't Mean Anything for Pac-Man's Legacy

Mike MoraitisJun 11, 2012

Manny Pacquiao was robbed, and there is no debating that unless you are one of the two judges who scored this fight in favor of Desert Storm or, of course, Timothy Bradly himself.

Such a despicable decision leading to a loss for Pac-Man should have absolutely no bearing on the Filipino's ever-growing legacy in the sport of boxing. Pacquiao has come too far and accomplished too much to have this stain on the boxing world rubbed off on him.

We're talking about a champion that has done it in multiple weight classes and dominated many great fighters in his time. Pacquiao has done things never before seen in the sport of boxing, and there is no doubt that, alongside Floyd Mayweather Jr., he is the greatest fighter in the sport, bar none.

It's no wonder why the boxing world is drooling at the prospect of seeing these two square-off in a ring.

The only thing from this fight that might hurt Pacquiao's legacy is how he made us viewers wait an incredible amount of extra time while he rode his stationary bike, working out his calves and watching the NBA Eastern Conference finals.

Pacquiao did what he always does: beat down his opponent either quickly or throughout the course of an entire fight, leading to eventual victory.

The only thing that can damage an athlete's legacy is a total drop-off in skill; in this instance, that clearly didn't happen.

The only drop-off that occurred was in the logic of the two judges who scored this fight in Bradley's favor. No matter how hard they might have tried, that doesn't change the fact that Pac-Man won this fight.

And the last time I checked, wins were normally good for a boxer's legacy, not the other way around.
