2011 stats: Started 13 games at right tackle.

Strengths

Matthews is one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the country, and along with left tackle Luke Joeckel, should solidify that Aggie offensive line. At 6'5", 295 pounds, Matthews has size to deal the bigger and faster defensive lines that exist in the SEC.

Weaknesses

As is the case with most players on the Texas A&M roster, the transition to the SEC is something that is going to be an issue all year—especially for offensive linemen. Playing offensive line in the SEC is high risk/high reward and if he can succeed against the best in college football, it will only solidify his place as one of the best offensive tackles in the country.

2012 Prediction

With new Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin installing his new Air Raid offense, offensive line play will be extra-important off the edge. Expect Matthews to be in the mix for first-team All-SEC honors in December.
