Regardless of who wins, history will be made Sunday at the 2012 French Open.
The epic two-week tournament will conclude with a captivating men's final featuring Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, both of whom are looking to etch their names into tennis lore.
A win for Nadal would give him his record-setting seventh French Open victory and cement his status as the true king of clay. Djokovic, meanwhile, is looking to become just the third player in history to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time.
With the world's two best players squaring off in a high stakes showdown, you can expect a thrilling match on Sunday. Here's everything you need to know about Day 15 of the French Open.
TV Coverage
| Sunday, June 10 | 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. ET | No. 1 Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs. No. 2 Rafael Nadal (ESP) | NBC |
Match Preview
Head-to-Head: Nadal leads career series 18-14
Last Meeting: Nadal def. Djokovic 7-5, 6-3 at the 2012 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Rome
How They Got Here
Nadal has yet to drop a set at Roland Garros this year, dominating every opponent he's faced. After dispatching No. 13 Juan Monaco 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth round, he went on to destroy No. 12 Nicolas Almagro and No. 6 David Ferrer.
On the other side, Djokovic has shown his mortality at times. He played consecutive five-set matches against No. 22 Andreas Seppi and No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, with the latter blowing four match points that could have buried the Serbian. Despite his struggles, Djokovic rebounded well by beating No. 3 Roger Federer in straight sets.
Prediction
Djokovic has a 27-match winning streak in Grand Slam tournaments, and he's dispatched Nadal in each of the last three Grand Slam finals.
So, naturally, I'm picking Nadal to win.
The 26-year-old Spaniard has been on an all-out rampage at Roland Garros, and he looks hell-bent on winning his seventh career French Open title.
While Djokovic has occasionally lost focus against lesser opponents, Nadal has been cold and calculated throughout. He's annihilating everyone he faces, and although the world's No. 1 will be on the other side of the net, I'm expecting another overwhelming performance from him on Sunday.
On clay, Nadal is 11-2 all time against Djokovic. I'm looking for him to add another tally to his win column at Roland Garros by beating Djokovic in a five-set classic.
