Most Entertaining Fighter from Each UFC Weight Class

Anthony FuscoJun 9, 2012

MMA is truly one of the fastest growing sports in the entire world. To make it on the biggest MMA stage in the world, the UFC, fighters have to be highly skilled and very entertaining.

Every fan out there knows which fighters put it all on the line and put on shows for the fans. In the following slides, you`ll see my picks for the most entertaining fighter from each division.

Flyweight: Joseph Benavidez

1 of 8

This was perhaps one of my most difficult decisions in this article. Pick an entertaining fighter from a division full of them. I believe I picked correctly, though.

Benavidez was an elite bantamweight, and with his drop to flyweight I believe he will be the champion of his division. He has scary finishing power with deadly submissions and excellent wrestling to match.

Benavidez always brings the fight to his opponent, and I for one can`t wait to see him and Mighty Mouse go full tilt with the flyweight belt on the line.

Bantamweight: Michael McDonald

2 of 8

Michael McDonald has quickly been rocketing up the bantamweight rankings with a series of impressive wins. The kid is only 21 years old, and the sky is the limit for him.

McDonald is entertaining. He`s a proven finisher with nine wins coming by KO-TKO and four by way of submission. In his last two fights, he put both his opponents out with vicious punches.

I`d like to see McDonald fighting for the bantamweight title soon. If he keeps destroying opponents like Alex Soto and Miguel Torres found out, the UFC will be more than happy to have McDonald, a proven finisher, fighting for a title.

Featherweight: Chan Sung Jung

3 of 8

Since entering the UFC, the Korean Zombie has been money. Three UFC fights, three impressive finishes.

His first fight in the UFC was a rematch with Leonard Garcia after their epic slug fest at WEC 48. This time around, the Korean Zombie would finish Garcia with a rare twister submission. Entertained yet?

In his next UFC fight, he knocked out Mark Hominick in seven seconds. Now? All right, one more. In his latest fight with Dustin Poirier, he finished him with a Brabo choke in the fourth round.

Chan Sung Jung comes to fight and to finish. He's every fan's dream, which is why he gets a spot on this list.

Lightweight: Clay Guida

4 of 8

The energizer bunny checks under his bed for Clay Guida every night. This guy has a gas tank that seemingly never runs dry. I don't believe I've ever seen a boring Clay Guida fight.

Everything about his fights are entertaining. From his finishes of Takanori Gomi and Shannon Gugerty to trading blows with Diego Sanchez and Ben Henderson, Guida always shows up to fight.

Heck, even his staredowns make fans jump for excitement of what is to come. Don't believe me? Look no further than the most intense staredown ever between Clay Guida and Diego Sanchez.

Welterweight: Diego Sanchez

5 of 8

Diego Sanchez is entertainment personified. Much like Clay Guida in the previous slide, Sanchez always comes to fight.

Probably one of the most intense guys in the UFC, Diego Sanchez is as scary as he is entertaining.

Whenever the UFC announces Sanchez is fighting, fans everywhere rejoice. Who wouldn't want to see him fight after we saw his amazing scraps with Martin Kampmann or Jake Ellenberger?

Even his walkouts are sometimes gems to watch. The one where he comes out with a cross like he's going to banish the demons is my personal favourite.

Middleweight: Chris Leben

6 of 8

Some people have said that the middleweight division has no entertaining fighters. I disagree with that statement. Don't believe me? Ask Chris Leben.

Leben is always putting on a show for the fans. He never stops coming forward and attacking his opponent.

Leben has been in some memorable scraps in his UFC career including big finishes of Yoshihiro Akiyama, Aaron Simpson, and a memorable 27-second knockout over Wanderlei Silva.

Chris Leben always comes to fight, win or lose. He's a fan-friendly fighter for a very good reason.

Light-Heavyweight: Jon Jones

7 of 8

I tried to stay away from champions in this slide, but this was one I couldn't pass up. Jon Jones is the reigning UFC Light Heavyweight champion and for good reason. The guy is as entertaining as he is talented.

He's got absolutely wicked elbows, a diverse array of striking, and dangerous wrestling. Some of the memorable moments from his career so far include is massive suplex on Stephen Bonnar, his nasty elbows on Brandon Vera, and his choke out of Lyoto Machida.

Jones is a very polarizing fighter. Fans either love him or hate him. But if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that he is exciting to watch.

Heavyweight: Pat Barry

8 of 8

This was a no-brainer. Pat Barry is my favourite UFC fighter and for good reason. The guy is for by the people and for the people. Barry is simply incapable of having a boring fight.

He may not have the most stellar record, but fans don't care; we want more Pat. The fans loved his TKO over Antoni Hardonk, his KO of Christian Morecraft.

I know that I enjoyed every single of of his fights even if he lost. The Cheick Kongo fight, the one against Lavar Johson. Barry gives it his all each time. That's a true fighter right there.

Oh yeah, and he can also dance a mean Techno Viking. Check it out on YouTube if you haven't seen it.
