Pacquiao vs. Bradley Odds: Recap of This Week's Money Line

Adam WellsJun 4, 2018

Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley are going to set the sports world ablaze in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Everyone is expecting a one-sided slaughter in Pacquiao's favor, but you have to give the scrappy underdog a puncher's chance.

Looking at the betting odds for this fight, it is clear that Pacquiao is getting all the love. That seems to be a common theme in all of his fights, as it would be foolish to bet on a boxer who is generally regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and has not lost in seven years.

As a final preparation for tonight's big pay-per-view bout, we are going to take you through the betting line and show how it has changed—if at all—this week.

Analysis

Given that Pacquiao hasn't been able to knock an opponent out since Miguel Cotto in 2009, it is no surprise that a decision of some sort for Pac-Man is bringing back the lowest return.

I find it strange that Pacquiao is such a prohibitive favorite coming off of such a poor performance against Juan Manuel Marquez. With all the talk about his future, you have to wonder what will happen if things don't start great for him.

One thing betters should keep in mind is the theory of the long shot. Whenever there is a boxer who has odds that seemingly give him no chance to win, you always put something down on them.

Bradley winning via KO or TKO would bring the most bang for your buck. Betting odds are all about enticing you to take risks. It is not smart to put all of your eggs in the Bradley basket, but putting something down would be a wise investment.

Final Say

Bradley has been put in this spot much sooner than anyone would have imagined. He is the guy that Top Rank wants to get over to a national audience. He has to be ready for it, or else he is going to be just another Pacquiao victim.

The betting odds are clearly as they should be, yet I am intrigued about putting some money on Bradley to win via KO or TKO, just because the payout would be so strong.
