I'll Have Another Scratched: Doug O'Neill to Hold Press Conference at 1 PM

I'll Have Another dealt horse racing a crippling blow today, as trainer Doug O'Neill reported on The Dan Patrick Show that the Triple Crown contender was being scratched from the Belmont Stakes.

Now, according to the New York Racing Association, O'Neill will hold a press conference at 1 PM EST to discuss his prize horse's status.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions O'Neill must address this afternoon.

While there are reports that I'll Have Another tore a tendon and will be retired, nothing has been confirmed at this point. On top of that, no one is sure just how the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner injured himself, or what it means for his future.

No matter what the cause or the source of his withdrawal from the Belmont, losing a contender as compelling as I'll Have Another is certainly a blow to the sport of horse racing.
