French Open 2012: Day 13 Scores, Results and Recap

Ben ChodosJun 7, 2018

The men’s French Open final is set and it looks like it will be very difficult to beat Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard continued his dominant run through the tournament by stomping on his compatriot, David Ferrer.

The rematch between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer was not as exciting as spectators had hoped, and the Serb won the match in straight sets.

Now Djokovic and Nadal are set for an epic clash in the finals on June 10, but first let’s recap the action from today.

Nadal Still Looks Unbeatable

Rafael Nadal (2)66 6
David Ferrer (6)2 2 1

David Ferrer beat No. 4 seed Andy Murray to get to the finals against No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal. But he was no match for Nadal, who has overwhelmed every opponent he has played.

Nadal proved that he didn’t even need to even be standing up to win points, as he cracked a shot past Ferrer from the ground, after he had slipped on the clay.

Nadal is chasing his 11th Grand Slam title, which would be the fourth highest total in tennis history. A victory would give him his seventh title at Roland Garros, which would break a tie with Bjorn Borg and give Nadal the record for most titles since the tournament was opened to professionals.

The remarkable numbers do not stop there. Nadal is 51-1 in his career at the French Open and he has not dropped a set during his run this year.

There does not seem to be much hope for Djokovic in the finals, as Nadal is in the midst of one of the most dominant runs in his career.

Djokovic Gets a Quick Win, Finally

Novak Djokovic (1)676
Roger Federer (3)453

Novak Djokovic did himself a huge favor and beat Roger Federer in straight sets.

Djokovic’s last two matches both went all five sets before he could pull out a victory. If he posted another drawn-out victory, it is unlikely that he would have the legs to challenge Rafael Nadal.

Despite his bumpy road to the finals, Djokovic is confident that he will be ready to give Nadal a competitive match. He said the following, via Andrew Dampf of the Associate Press, courtesy of Yahoo! News.

"

We're both physically fit and fresh and ready to deliver our best tomorrow. We have a great rivalry. He's the player I've played the most against in my career and there are no secrets. It's going to be a good fight. It would be good for both of us to get that trophy before Paris.

"

Djokovic is chasing history, just like Nadal. If he can pull off a victory, it will be his fourth consecutive Grand Slam victory.

Both players are looking to cement their place as tennis legends, and this is sure to be an incredible final.
