French Open 2012: Maria Sharapova Will Dominate Sara Errani in Straight Sets

Justin WeltonMay 31, 2018

Sara Errani has enjoyed a nice ride in the 2012 French Open, but it's coming to an end. Maria Sharapova is winning her first French Open on Saturday via straight sets.

She has gained confidence on clay, built off of her performance and made a commitment to make it to the next level on the surface.

She's been dominant in the 2012 French Open. Only Klara Zakopalova has been able to take her to three sets. Nobody else has been close.

Sharapova realizes the opportunity she has in front of her, and she is beginning to think about her next opponent, according to BBC.co.uk.

"

"The final is always the toughest match, I've got to be ready for it," said Sharapova.

"I'll relax [on Friday] as we have a day off. I'll practice and be ready here for Saturday.

"I did watch it [Errani's victory over Stosur] and she's playing such good tennis. She's a really great clay player and it will be a real challenge. I will go out there no matter who the opponent is try to win."

"

Sharapova has been in this situation before, and that experience will help her tremendously in this situation.

Errani, however, isn't accustomed to this situation, and there's a possibility she's just happy to be there. According to CBSSports, Errani wasn't expecting this to happen.

"

"It's incredible for me," Errani said. "I didn't expect it, and I'm here. So, I don't know what to say."

"

She has played great tennis, but she has went to three sets this tournament including her first match against Casey Dellacqua.

Sharapova is playing on another level right now. She realizes that this his her time, and I can't see her falling to Errani in this situation.

Prediction

Sharapova dominates in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
