Moenchengladbach 1 - Hoffenheim 1 (Bundesliga, February 7, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) The top versus bottom clash between Gladbach and Hoffenheim went the way on the underdog in the first half, Alexander Baumjohann scoring a stunner from 25-yards out which flew over Haas’ head. With the clock running out the Village Team salvaged a point through Wellington’s scrappy header.

Bayer Leverkusen 2 - Stuttgart 4 (Bundesliga, February 7, 2009) A near post volley from Mario Gomes gave Stuttgart a second minute lead. Stuttgart doubled their lead through a thumping Thomas Hitzlsperger free-kick. Stephan Kiessling pulled a goal back for Bayer but the two-goal cushion was soon restored when Gomez netted his second of the game. Khedira added a fourth in the last minute while their was enough time for Charisteas to give the score more respectability.

Karlsruhe 3 - Hamburg 2 (Bundesliga, February 7, 2009) Karlsruhe conceded early doors at home to Hamburg, Jose Guerrero played a neat one-two with Jarolim before finding the bottom corner. After the break Collin Benjamin extended the visitors’ lead, only for Sebastian Freis and Giovanni Federico to draw Karlsruhe with two goals in four minutes. The match exploded in the final stages, each side had a player sent off - Petric (violent elbow) and Engelhardt - before Sebastian Freis completed a terrific comeback with a 90th minute winning header.

Wolfsburg 2 - Bochum 0 (Bundesliga, February 7, 2009) Edin Dzeko fired Wolfsburg ahead  toe-poking home Misimovic’s through-ball. Dzeko wrapped up the win with a second in the second half.

Eintracht Frankfurt 2 - Cologne 2 (Bundesliga, February 7, 2009) Marco Russ headed in Steinhofer cross to put Frankfurt 1-up. Milivoje Novakovic brought the visitors level, only for Martin Fenin to restore the hosts’ lead four minutes later with a back post volley. But back came Cologne, Novakovic chalking up his brace from the spot.

Schalke 1 - Werder Bremen 0 (Bundesliga, February 7, 2009) Schalke’s Benedikt Howedes met Farfan’s free-kick at the near post to head the hosts ahead of Bremen.
