Oklahoma Football: Removing Scholarships for 3 Players Is an Unfortunate Blow

Bob Stoops has made a big move in removing the scholarships of three of the four players that have been suspended.

Trey Franks, Jaz Reynolds and Quentin Hayes, guys who were suspended indefinitely in May, have now had their scholarships pulled, according to ESPN.com. Kameel Jackson, the other player suspended for the Sooners, is not in the same boat according to Stoops.

The players will apparently have to take the long road back to the Oklahoma Sooners football team, if that remains one of their goals. What that means, still remains to be seen.

What we do know is the Sooners are moving on without Jaz Reynolds, their second leading, returning wide receiver. Reynolds is a big blow to an offense that will be relying on the passing game and quarterback Landry Jones to get things done.

While Kameel Jackson still remains on scholarship and should help contribute provided he gets back on the team, the big loss of Reynolds may be helped by the emergence of Trey Metoyer as an option.

The Sooners will need someone to pair with Kenny Stills to maximize what Landry Jones can do with the football.
