Belmont Stakes 2012: Dullahan Will Ruin Triple Crown for Horse Racing
Dullahan is going to shatter the dreams of those hoping to witness the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years.
This horse looked strong finishing third at the Kentucky Derby and then sat out the Preakness. This has left him fresh and ready to go.
Dullahan has been gearing up for this race, and apparently that gearing is going fantastically. Trainer Dale Romans had this to say, and was quoted by NzHerald.co.nz:
"He looked like he was galloping, and then we got back to the barn he recovered quickly. He wasn't blowing. I think he's ready. I'm happy with my position. I wouldn't change places with anybody in this race.
"
Dullahan has had more time to prepare just for this race, and he will have fresher legs. This is something that I'll Have Another will not be able to overcome because Dullahan is already equipped to beat the champion colt at his own game.
In the Kentucky Derby, Dullahan was actually closing faster than I'll Have Another; he just had more ground to make up.
You can expect Dullahan to try and stick right on I'll Have Another for this race. This will leave him with an even sprint to the finish to destroy I'll Have Another's Triple Crown dreams.
Dullahan has already proven he can flash the kind of late speed to hang with I'll Have Another. His fresh legs should be more than enough for him to not only hang with the colt on the verge of history, but beat him.
