Pacquiao vs. Bradley Odds: What Timothy Bradley Must Do to Overcome Critics

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2012

Despite being 28-0, Timothy Bradley faces overwhelming odds leading up to his showdown with Manny Pacquiao on Saturday at the MGM Grand.

Bovada has Pacquiao as a -450 favorite, and very few believe Bradley will shock the eight-division world champion.

If Bradley has any chance of pulling off the upset and shocking the boxing world, there are a few things he must do.

3. Be Able to Take a Beating

One thing Bradley does have going for him is he's a very durable, rugged fighter who has never lost, let alone get knocked out.

He's going to need to be able to take a few big shots from Pacquiao to stay in the fight, and given his track record, it's very possible that this fight goes the full 12 rounds.

Juan Manuel Marquez, who many thought beat Pacquiao in November, took some big hits from Pac-Man, but stayed on his feet and didn't let it sway his confidence.

2. Confidence Cannot Be Overstated

Bradley may never be one of the greats, but he undeniably has world-class confidence. Sometimes that can work against you, but you absolutely have to be confident when you are going up against a legend like Pacquiao. The moment you stop believing in yourself is the moment that you are done.

1. Determination and Grit

Bradley doesn't have the offensive firepower Pacquiao has. He's a slower, less-powerful fighter and his skills don't compare. In that sense, he has to give Pacquiao a battle if he expects to win this fight.

In order to win, he'll need to battle for the full 12 rounds, no matter how exhausted he is. The good news for him is that he's ripped and has good endurance.

Pressing Pac-Man and making him feel uncomfortable, pulling off narrow wins in several rounds, is his best bet.
