Word Life Vol. 15: How One Man Can Have Multiple Indentities...3 Faces Of Foley

AkDFeb 7, 2009

Hello B/R, AkD is hitting you with another article. "How many does he crank out a day?" Maybe three or so, but I try me best to have them good quality instead of straight bird crap.

Speaking of birds, You guys should check out my WWE for dummies classifying WWE superstars using birds article. Who's the subject of this volume of Word Life? Three personalities...one guy.

Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love—all the faces of Mick Foley. Something somewhat similar is speculated to be going on around here in B/R, so the 3 faces of Foley was a perfect inspiration to write this article.

We all love and respect Foley...at least I did until he jumped ship to TNA. I don't completely hate him, but lost lots of respect for him. Looking back to his long WWE tenure, Foley portrayed not one, not two, but three identities in the ring.

First there was Dude Love. Dude was the coolest cat around. We could just take a chill pill and everything will be alright. The Dude was even a tag team champion with the rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Though RAW was War and there was a whole lot of attitude, Dude try to promote "love" and keep the peace.

There was a couple of times when our color ty die shirt wearing peace keeper went bananas...viciously attacking Stone Cold Steve Austin when he had one arm tied behind his back was one of those times. He also did that funky chicken dance when he would cross his hands between his legs, which he moved side to side. Throw up the piece sign!

We can next move to Mankind. He was a dumpster-diving, boiler room brawling, mask wearing son of a gun. Mankind had debuted Mr. Socko, a hand sock puppet, in a hospital for a injured Vince McMahon who suffered his weekly Stone Cold beat down. This is probably the identity that makes Foley so legendary.

At the 1998 King of The Ring, Mankind was thrown off the top of the cell and fell right through the announce tables by the hands of the Undertaker. Never have seen something so horrific like this before. I believe Taker also slammed him through the cell and his tooth came out of his nose. He was the WWE's rag doll.

Mankind with the help of Degeneration X, fended off the corporation and defeated The Rock for his first ever (and only one I think) WWE championship. Though he had some rough times, he always seemed to say "Have a nice day"!

Then there's Cactus Jack. Jack was a wild card, the master of hardcore. Cactus was also an A-hole. (I wonder who else is one?) Jack took hardcore to the limits with his flaming barb wired two-by-four's and thirst for blood. BANG! BANG! Jack would use hand gestures and make two guns with his fingers as he was about to do his taunt, or an elbow drop.

Cactus had a number of matches and he had one hell of one with Triple H. At No Way Out 2000 (could be 01') Cactus Jack faced Triple H in a hell in cell match. This is where we saw his flaming barbed wire 2x4. He tried to DDT Triple H on it and Triple H countered and Jack flipped over and fell through the cage just as he did a few years back. Jack would then retire.

Mick Foley had little tenures as WWE Commissioner, and being a commentator on Smackdown. Mick Foley also had stints as special guess referees, along with cameos. Cameos including facing Orton and Evolution at Wrestlemania 20, facing Edge at Wrestlemania 22, and some anniversary specials.

Foley was a man of many faces, but at the end of day Jack, Dude, and Mankind were all the same guy. Hmm I hope people find this article interesting and a good read. You already know, until next time..."Word Life".
