Masseuse Collapses at Chris Bosh's Home, Passes Away at Hospital
Chris Bosh had an incredibly dramatic 24 hours before returning to his team on Tuesday.
CBS Sports reports that Bosh was getting a massage at his Miami home when the masseuse suddenly fell to the ground and later died in a hospital on Monday.
Here is CBS Sports with more details on the shocking death:
"Miami Beach police spokeswoman Vivian Hernandez says the department will conduct its standard death investigation, but there are no immediate signs of foul play.
The woman initially appeared to be well but suddenly collapsed. Fire rescue workers responded and transported the unconscious woman to a nearby hospital, where she died Monday night.
"
According to a friend, she had survived cancer roughly a year ago. The report did not include the cause of the woman’s fall or death.
It’s an incredible bizarre story and a large distraction for Bosh at the worst possible time.
Bosh, 28, had missed the previous three weeks with a lower abdominal strain, which equated to nine playoff games for the Heat.
Bosh and his wife Adrienne released a statement on the manner before Tuesday’s game (via South Florida SunSentinel):
"Last evening, a massage therapist that we have used for some time, arrived at our home to provide massage therapy. Shortly after she arrived, she fainted and lost consciousness. We called 911 and emergency personnel arrived at our home shortly thereafter. They took her to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she passed away. Our hearts go out to her family. We are very sorry for their loss.
"
While Bosh didn’t start the pivotal Game 5 matchup against the Boston Celtics, he was active and available to play. In six games this postseason, Bosh has averaged 14.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists.
