Does India Really Love Cricket?
The world around an Indian is so affected by cricket that at times you feel as if cricket was not a game but a lovely boy who is a child of every family.
So lets meet this lovely boy Cricket.
This child is the apple of everyone's eye. It is the center of attention of all in this country. Like any other child, this one also makes you forget your tensions in daily life the moment we see it. Along with this is the fact that dear Cricket also has bad times like all children and frustrates us. But just like people stand behind their own children, they also stand behind it.
So I think I can conclude that this boy is someone who will remain close to our hearts forever.
As we know this lovely gift was given to India by the British. They adopted it and took care of it so well, that if it wasn't a fact of history that the child was not Indian, no one would have ever guessed.
Now when this treasured being of the country is finally standing on it's own feet and walking without falling again and again, a thought entered my mind.
I asked myself. Do Indians actually love cricket? Do they actually care about cricket?
I am not sure.
If cricket had not achieved all the glory for the country, the country would have not even given the boy a second look.
The Indian backyard has a lot of other children: tennis, football, badminton, hockey etc. The have been crying for affection but no one gives it to them.
But a few days back some of them did get a certain amount of warmth by their big Indian Parivar (family) when they got the country medals from the Olympics.
So today I ask each Indian. Are you looking for a star performer or a son. If it is a performer, then you are fine. But if you are looking for a son, then I must tell you that children have to be accepted even if they do badly. They've got to be brought back on the right track.
I really wonder, is cricket a game India loves? Or is it the game in which India is recognized at the international front that India loves?
