SEC Football Top 150 Players: No. 86, Alfred Blue, LSU RB
The SEC Blog will be counting down the top 150 players in the SEC every day, concluding on Aug. 30, at the start of the college football regular season.
86. Alfred Blue, No. 4, LSU Running Back
2011 stats: 78 carries for 539 yards and seven touchdowns
Strengths
Alfred Blue is a 6'2", 215-pounder that is part of that four-headed monster that LSU has at running back. He averaged a whopping 6.9 yards per carry in 2012, including 94 yards in LSU's SEC Championship game win over Georgia.
He has a knack for the big play and is a big-time spark for that LSU backfield.
Weaknesses
He has never been an every-down back; at LSU, he might not ever have to be. Kenny Hilliard, Spencer Ware and Michael Ford will all steal carries from Blue, which makes him only one piece to the LSU running back puzzle.
2012 Prediction
He won't be a star for LSU, but Blue is still an important piece for the Tigers. There's always a fresh running back off of the bench in Baton Rouge, and Blue will be that guy in 2012.
With LSU breaking in quarterback Zach Mettenberger, the running game will be critical to its success in 2012, and Blue will be a big part of that.
