French Open 2012: Power Ranking Best Matches of Day 9 at Roland Garros

Day nine at the 2012 French Open will be full of star power as top players such as Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova will be in action as the intensity increases at Roland Garros.

With day eight seeing several of the best players in the tournament be tested by determined underdogs, no favorite will be safe from being upset on Monday.

Let's look at the best matches for Monday, June 9 at the French Open.

Rafael Nadal vs. Juan Monaco

No. 13 seed Juan Monaco will try to shock Spanish star Rafael Nadal in what would be one of the biggest upsets in French Open history.

Nadal has been dominant in Paris this year, and hasn't lost a set in his previous three matches coming into Monday's fourth-round showdown.

David Ferrer vs. Marcel Granollers

No. 6 seed David Ferrer is one of the highest ranked challengers to Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Nadal at the French Open. He will be opposed on Monday by fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers.

Ferrer's last three tournaments all ended at the quarterfinal stage or later, and each time he lost to Federer or Nadal.

He's playing some of the best tennis of his career right now, and will be a lot of fun to watch on day nine.

Maria Sharapova vs. Klara Zakopalova

The Russian star must be careful on Monday, because world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka was upset on Sunday. If Sharapova isn't careful, she could be defeated too.

Zakopalova has beaten two seeded opponents in the last two rounds, and has shown great composure throughout the tournament against superior players.

Sharapova must make sure she doesn't play too comfortably on Monday, or Zakopalova could prevent her from making Grand Slam history.
