All-time Funniest Athletes

Ryan Lester
Feb 6, 2009

I was asked to help select theย funniest moments in sports and sports movies.

Iโ€™m going to take a different spin on this and pick out some of the funniest athletes.ย  Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™m leaving a bunch out, so feel free to add.ย  These are in no particular order.

Yogi Berra

The Yankee great was a classic.ย  He came up with some of baseballโ€™s most memorable quotes.ย  Hereโ€™s an example:ย  โ€œBaseball is ninety percent mental.ย  The other half is physical.โ€

Muhammad Ali

Another guy with the gift of gab.ย  Hereโ€™s one of Aliโ€™s:ย  โ€œFrazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the U.S. Bureau of Wildlife.โ€

Rickey Henderson

Anyone that talks in the third person as much as Rickey is hilarious to me.ย  Here is one of Rickeyโ€™s keepers:ย  โ€œThis is Rickey calling on behalf of Rickey.ย  Rickey wants to play baseball.โ€

Charles Barkley

The guy simply doesnโ€™t have an edit button.ย  His mouth occasionally gets him into trouble, but you have to love his honesty.

Shaq

The Big Aristotle almost always wears a great big smile and delivers some great lines.ย  You can just tell he is fun. Went a little over the top with his question to Kobe, but heโ€™s delivered enough over the years to forgive him.

Peyton Manning

Was surprisingly funny on SNL, plus heโ€™s a big-time practical joker.

Reggie Miller

If you have ever heard him on the Dan Patrick radio show, youโ€™ll know what Iโ€™m talking about. Reggie Alawishus Miller is a funny cat.

Max Patkin

The Crown Prince of Baseball.ย  Enough said.

Bob Uecker

Although, I use the word โ€œathleteโ€ losely with him.

Honorable Mention:

Mike Tyson

If he wasnโ€™t such a train wreck (and scary for that matter), he might crack the list.
