Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils Sign Crewe Striker Nick Powell
Manchester United looked like the favorites all along to sign striker Nick Powell from Crewe Alexandra over the summer transfer window, and the Red Devils have finally gotten their man.
Despite rumors that Chelsea were looking to sign Powell, as well as Arsenal attempting to lure him to the Emirates, the Red Devils have agreed on a fee for the 18-year-old according to the Inside Futbol and the Crewe Chronicle.
After leading Crewe to League One promotion with an outstanding 16 goals last season, Powell has been the subject of much discussion and was always under the watchful eye of Sir Alex Ferguson as he sought to bring the teenager to Old Trafford.

The fee is expected to cost United an initial £4 million with the potential for up to £2 million more through add-ons and contract extras.
After scoring a sensational goal in the playoff final against Cheltenham that saw Crewe qualify for League One next season, Powell no doubt has the attacking talent and ability to be a future star at Old Trafford and join the rich history of strikers that have played for Manchester United.
Some are saying that Powell could well be sent back to Crewe on loan by the Red Devils, who already boast great depth in their squad. However, this seems unlikely to happen, with the most likely option appearing that he will begin to train and learn the Manchester United way as soon as possible.
Negotiations with Borussia Dortmund target Shinji Kagawa are still stalling for the Red Devils, and the signing of Powell could provide some welcome relief at Old Trafford, who is in the process of finalizing personal terms with United.
