Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils to Lose Many Familiar Faces

Alex HallJun 7, 2018

Manchester United fans are probably still mourning over the loss of the English Premier League title to rival Manchester City and the early Champions League exit, so the news that many players might be leaving Old Trafford probably isn't making things any easier.

Stuart Mathieson of the Manchester Evening News is reporting that there are more than a few unhappy campers on the United roster who are looking to move on to greener pastures this summer.

Perhaps most vocal about wanting to leave is Oliver Norwood, who told Mathieson: "It's been the hardest decision in my life for me to make, but there comes a time when you have to be realistic."

Norwood was once believed to be a rising star within the organization, but he never really broke through to the starting lineup.

Veteran Michael Owen has already left the team, and Dimitar Berbatov doesn't appear to be making a reservation to stay with his current team. The Bulgarian footballer's agent recent revealed to Martin Blackburn of The Sun that his client wouldn't mind a move to free-spending club Paris Saint-Germain: "PSG’s project can really interest him because he wants to play in the Champions League next year. Plus, there has never been a Bulgarian player at PSG, so it could be good."

Last month, Sir Alex Ferguson also decided to ship reserves Matty James and Ritchie de Laet to Leicester City.

Although a bit of silver lining for United is that they are still in talks to acquire top talent like Fulham's Mousa Dembele, according to the Daily Mail.

While Chelsea is also reportedly interested in grabbing the attacking midfielder, both sides have started the bidding war at around 10 million euros.

Manchester United is a club that usually finds itself busy during the summer. While the team will probably snatch up a few big names, it appears that more players will be leaving than joining the EPL's most recognizable squad.
