2012 French Open Day 7: Rafael Nadal vs. Eduardo Schwank
Rafael Nadal will be in action at the 2012 French Open on Saturday as he faces Argentina's Eduardo Schwank in third-round play. The two players have never faced one another on tour before, and few will be giving Schwank much of chance to win this match.
Currently the Argentine is ranked just 192nd in the world, although his ranking promises to shoot upward with the post-French Open ranking update. Schwank did well in taking out Florian Mayer in the second round, a player who was seeded at the 2012 French Open, but things will almost certainly be much different against the world No. 2.
Nadal has been ruthless so far at the 2012 French Open, as the defending champion has only lost nine games in his two matches combined. When he's on that kind of form there is no player in the world that can stand in his way at Roland Garros, and Schwank cannot be feeling optimistic about his chances of winning.
Schwank is a very inexperienced player in matches of this magnitude, as Saturday's match against Nadal will be just the second third round Grand Slam appearance of the Argentine's career.
Nadal is priced at -10000 (1/100) with a few sportsbooks to beat Schwank straight up (ie. Bodog). To be honest, I think there is value there, and it's my opinion that the Spaniard is more like a 1-to-1500 favorite heading into this match. However, those looking to back Nadal aren't going to get rich with such short odds. They are probably better off taking Rafa in the outright winner's market for the entire tournament at -166 with Sportingbet.
The Nadal versus Schwank match is scheduled fourth on Day 7's schedule of play for Court Philippe Chatrier on Saturday.
