SEC Football Morning Coffee: Vanderbilt's Franklin Apologizes for Hot Wife Joke

Happy Friday, SEC friends. Here's what's going on in the SEC this morning.

Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin apologized on Twitter for telling 3HL on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville that he only hires assistant coaches with good looking wives.

The Georgia vs. Ohio State home-and-home series scheduled for 2020 and 2021 has been cancelled by Ohio State, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. Ohio State had no room on the schedule after the Big Ten and Pac-12 announced a scheduling agreement.

Tennessee announced that junior cornerback Izauea Lanier will not be eligible for the 2012 season. Lanier started nine games last season and was listed as the second-team defensive back behind Prentiss Waggner exiting spring.

Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier told Tommy Hicks of the Mobile (Ala.) Press Register not to expect anything fancy from Alabama's offense in 2012.

Jim Harris of ArkansasSports360.com writes that the buzz that Texas A&M is replacing Arkansas as LSU's season finale is picking up steam.

Matt Hinton of CBSSports.com points out that the battle line has been drawn between conferences that want the best four teams and conferences that favor conference champions in a playoff.
