WWE No Way Out 2012: Who Should Dolph Ziggler Face with Randy Orton Suspended?

Ryan DilbertJun 7, 2018

According to F4Wonline.com (via WrestleNewz.com), Dolph Ziggler was about to get a major break and be placed into a feud with Randy Orton, most likely leading to a match at No Way Out and beyond.

With Orton suspended for 60 days, that's obviously not going to happen now.

Dolph Ziggler's talent begs for him to be thrust into WWE's main event scene.  Unfortunately for him, it's a bit crowded at the top.

Daniel Bryan and CM Punk seem likely to be involved in a long feud over the WWE Championship.  John Cena resides at the top of the card and isn't likely to move from that spot anytime soon.

The conveyor belt of part-timers and legends doesn't make it any easier for Ziggler to break through, either.

Orton's suspension robbed him of a perfect opponent.

It would have allowed Ziggler to be featured against a high-profile star without having to wait for any of the championship-centered feuds to end.

Who does he face off against instead?

Christian

Christian will, in all likelihood, face off against the man he took the Intercontinental Championship from, Cody Rhodes.

Ziggler need not impede on that burgeoning feud, just make the situation messier and more exciting. It doesn't need to result in a Triple Threat match (at least not yet), but Ziggler's presence could add complexity and depth to Rhodes and Christian's rivalry.

Christian's speed and agility would mesh well with Ziggler's style.

If Rhodes got involved in the match, it could lead to a future Cody Rhodes vs. Dolph Ziggler, heel vs. heel match.  That, or Ziggler serves as a flame-fanner for Rhodes and Christian's rivalry before he moves on to his next angle.

Sin Cara

The masked dynamo should be ready to perform before No Way Out.  Nodq.com reported that Sin Cara wrestled at a house show in May.

WWE fans have condemned Sin Cara for excessive botches.  Once he returns, he can either erase those thoughts from our heads with the great performances he's capable of or prove all of his critics right.

Ziggler is quick and athletic enough to hang with the speedy Sin Cara.

In order to not bury Sin Cara immediately on his arrival, he could kayfabe reinjure his knee but continue to battle Ziggler courageously.  Ziggler could pounce on the weakness, looking crafty and merciless.

Aside from Rey Mysterio, Ziggler is one of the best fits for Sin Cara on the WWE roster.

Jack Swagger

Tension between Swagger and Ziggler has grown in recent weeks, signaling a possible breakup of the tag team and mini-stable.

Keeping Ziggler in the tag team division would be like having him run in place.

On his way up in the WWE hierarchy, he could end his partnership with the All-American American with violent emphasis.  Ziggler breaking away from his pack is inevitable anyway.

WWE should at least get a solid match between two former amateurs out of the deal.

This doesn't have to be a feud that stretches into the next three pay-per-views, just a stepping stone for Ziggler while WWE figures out his next step.
