Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn III: Coming This Summer

Dorothy WillisFeb 5, 2009

Dana White must be jumping for joy.

If UFC 94 was a financial success then Dana must be drooling all over himself in gleeful anticipation of becoming the King Midas of the MMA world.

Georges St. Pierre has stepped forward announcing that he will face BJ Penn again this summer and "will wear a rash guard" to assure everyone that he does not have to be greased to beat the Prodigy.

Recently I admonished Mr. Penn that "Experience keeps a dear school, but a fool will learn in no other."

Guess Penn is not a fan of Ben Franklin's or that the saying does not have the same meaning when translated to Hawaiian, because clearly BJ does not understand the message.

He called this on himself by disrespecting Georges and throwing an unwarranted cloud of suspicion over not only this most recent of GSP's victories; he has opened a can of worms and former losers are now claiming that Georges has always "greased to win."

Now I am a Georges St. Pierre fan to my core and I don't mean this as an insult, but if anyone has watched him or any of the primetime shows, I am sure everyone will agree "that boy can sweat!"

Of course, people who sweat are slippery.

Over the years of being a Georges fan, I can and do say that he is the hardest working athlete I have ever seen. He sweats a lot because he works out very, very hard and his work outs have very great intensity.

During his training and at the fights he drinks a lot of water and pours it on himself—it is not baby oil in the bottles. Let's not even start with absurd accusations about that!

What I noticed about Georges in the Hughes fights and the first Serra fight is how often Georges wiped sweat off his hands. He kept slipping and had trouble staying on his feet.

Sweat?

It was surely not greasing meant to help him that caused this. Why would he handicap himself by having grease on his hands and feet? Sweating, however, would be entirely beyond his control.

Are Hughes and Serra willing to admit that they would not have beaten Georges on their first time to fight him if not for "greasing gone awry?"

Now wouldn't that make their allegations look frivolous!

Maybe he and BJ should take part in a training marathon and settle this issue by seeing how well Mr. Hawaiian Punch Penn measures up outside the octagon before BJ tempts fate by walking into the octagon again to face Georges.

BJ says he believes in the ancient Eastern philosophies surrounding the world of martial arts.

Well, somehow he has missed the one about "beware of awakening the sleeping dragon."

Perhaps, judging from the state of funk that BJ has sunken into after losing the fight, he should rethink the "fight to the death" thoughts he expressed publicly before the fight.

Unless of course his original intention was to commit suicide by becoming the first death in the history of the UFC.

Although, I cannot bring myself to be a concerned BJ fan, I do not want to see him die in the octagon as he threatened to "kill Georges."

Not being a jealous person myself, I just cannot imagine what is driving BJ in this campaign against Georges.

I can see why Dana White and the Fertittas, who have or are losing millions (maybe it is billions by now) on their Stations Casinos rejoicing at all the interest that the "Vaseline War" has stirred up for a trilogy to occur this summer.

For Georges I have nothing but sympathy as I also do for Thiago Alves and Kenny Florian, neither of whom will be the benefactors of this new situation.

Here goes BJ once again becoming a spoiled brat, holding two weight classes hostage as he attempt to save the honor he has never had and surely will not gain by instigating another showdown with his now bitter rival Georges St. Pierre.

Well Georges, this time I hope the heat of your anger really burns the Hawaiian Brat to a crisp--but perhaps you should dip him in oil first before you French fry him!
