There is nothing like the French Open.

Historic moments, classic battles, memorable finishes and, of course, the surface that makes the event what it is.

Prediction

Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are the only candidates I see winning this year's open on the men's side. I would be shocked if another player jumped in to steal the spotlight.

With that said, I still have to give the edge to Nadal because of his domination on the clay at Roland Garros.

On the women's side, however, things are wide open. There are a number of individuals capable of walking away with the victory.

Maria Sharapova made her second semifinal at the French Open last year and I think she's ready to take that next step. If she can avoid the upset early, I'm looking for Sharapova to win her first Grand Slam since 2008.
