Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Why Pac-Man Will Have Little Trouble with Desert Storm

Jessica MarieJun 7, 2018

No one in the Pacquiao camp is too concerned that Timothy Bradley will be anything but an easy defeat.

Bradley may be 28-0 and he may be young, but Manny Pacquiao is Manny Pacquiao, and there's a reason he's one of the world's best boxers. Bradley can do all the talking he wants, but to Pacquiao, he's just another stop along the road that (hopefully) leads to a Floyd Mayweather super-fight.

As we learned from Mayweather's recent hard-fought win over Miguel Cotto, some much-anticipated opponents wind up being a lot tougher than expected. They can catch you off-guard.

The Pacquiao-Bradley fight is certainly anticipated, but Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's trainer, isn't expecting it to be tough. He recently told The Philippine Star's Abac Cordero that Bradley's porous defense could very well do him in.

Roach said:

"

I have been watching Bradley a lot and he doesn’t rely very much on counter-punching. He is very offensive. He comes to fight which will make it a good fight for everybody. We have the game plan set after watching many, many tapes of Bradley. Manny should have a very good fight on June 9.

"

One thing Bradley does have in his favor is a good track record against lefties, which Roach and Pacquiao are well aware of. It shouldn't be a problem, according to them; they've watched enough tape and simulated Bradley's style during training sessions enough times to be prepared.

Plus, the lefties Bradley's beaten in the past—Devon Alexander and Joel Casamayor—don't compare to the challenge Pacquiao presents.

Pacquiao must take heed not to underestimate his opponent and get too complacent. As the match creeps closer, Bradley must make sure not to oversell himself. As far as refraining from getting too cocky, he's not doing a great job.

Bradley recently told GMA News, "It feels great to get the fight with Manny Pacquiao. It's going to feel even better when I beat him."

Well, you don't boast a 28-0 record without confidence. Too much of it, however, is going to hurt Bradley in this match.

When all is said and done on June 9, it will come down to who has more talent. And no matter how much talking and back-and-forth goes on, Pacquiao still wins that battle.
