Dana White: Not as Expert as He Appears

Dorothy WillisFeb 3, 2009

The revelation of a lifetime (as a confirmed sports junkie) has just hit me!

Dana White is NOT the expert on MMA that he passes himself off to be.

It is easy to see how much his "act" as an expert has brought to him.

Wealth, Fame, Recognition are a few of the benefits of his deception.

And boy does he milk every moment out of it!

Hanging out with movies stars, sports celebrities (from areas other than MMA), the rich and beautiful people flock to him to seek meetings with the fighters that are so admired by all of us "lesser" fans.

And, yes, Dana can afford to make generous gestures that are made known to the public: the fight for the troops, donation to charities, occasional favors to "poor" fans.

Dana can pick and choose his causes.

He dares to say "Fu*k You" and worse in front of us, Matt Hughes' children, God and everybody.

He feels limitless power to be temperamental, thanks to the investments from his childhood friends, the Fertitta brothers.

Soon his depiction of "the Irish Mafia" will be on television.

Is there anything that this overnight financial success can not do?

Well there was a time when I would have been satisfied if he had simply cleaned up his language.

Not so now.

Now Dana White has been seen on his v-blog informing stunned fighters David Loiseau and Rashad Evans, who I am sure he considers as his paid-for-peons, that their peer Georges St. Pierre was in a world of trouble.

And so began a Dana assault based on what has come to be known as "the Great Vaseline Controversy."

He has made the statement that due to "greasing" GSP with Vaseline, his corner man Phil Nurse and trainer Greg Jackson, should lose their licenses and be banned from cornering any fighters.

Consequences?

For Dana, maybe some that he has not yet anticipated.

If nothing else, Georges St. Pierre feels very protective of his friends.

Could Dana end up with a face off with GSP and Company in court?

Georges wouldn't be the first fighter to meet Dana inside a court of law.

BJ Penn lost his court battle, Randy Couture is back within the auspices of the UFC but would make a hell of a witness against Dana and the UFC's ethics and practices, especially of intimidation.

Well, in my humble and aged opinion, it is time for one of the Dana slaves to win one; as far as I am concerned, it could be Georges St. Pierre.

Although Lincoln freed the slaves in the 1800s. Dana has not gotten wind of it yet,

He likes to keep his slaves underpaid, and if he can, under represented to prevent any strength from gathering on the opposing side.

Well some loyal fans and actual MMA experts have weighed in on the subject already saying that "no amount of Vaseline influenced the outcome of the fight."

Although every single person who has ever fought Georges is now being interviewed (by Rear Naked News, I suppose), and of course everyone is saying that Georges "has always been uncommonly slippery" and only beat them due to that factor.

Mayhem Miller is being quoted,Matt Serra and rival Matt Hughes have both agreed on this one thing: Georges could never have beaten either one of them had he not been greased.

Conveniently, though, he must have forgotten his hoard of Vaseline only on the two occasions (that the French-Canadian left the lube at home) and was consequently beaten by both Matts.

Now, Grandma's biggest question of Dana White's MMA expertise:

How could Dana have overlooked something so obvious all these years?

Could he have been so busy building up (hysterical whistle blower*) Chuck Liddell, that he was not paying any attention to the rise of this Canadian sensation?

Did the fact that Greg Jackson's 205 lb. team members have been able to knock Champ Liddell off his thrown influence Dana to pick a fight with Coach Jackson and to threaten to ban him as he has banned Affliction apparel from the UFC events?

Will fans drink Dana's energy drink and forget Georges?

Well, be sure to keep watching those Dana blogs to see the most recent developments.

*It was noted in one source that Liddell was seen at ringside jumping up and down and possibly ready to start a fight. It is Grandma's humble opinion that Chuck came to be reported as being "the fan who noticed the infraction and reported it to a member of the NSAC. Your imagination can proceed from there as did mine, thus this article.
