The first goal of the Carioca team was scored in the 13th minute of the first half, a beautifully placed ball of Thiago Neves in the right angle of the goalie Cuenca, who could not reach that ball.

The third came in the 44th., and again in a beautiful play by Dodô. He dribbled four players and found Gabriel free in the area to invade and touch it in as the goalie came out, sending the Maracanã crazy.

Five minutes into the second half, Dodô shone again, scoring a golaço! Thiago Snows crossed it and Dodô caught it once again first time on the volley out on the edge of the area, sending it singing to the right of Cuenca, the prettiest of the night, rightfully called "play of the day" by CNN INTERNATIONAL.

Washington later left his mark on the 26th  beating and tapping in off a touch from Dodô, who semed to be in the thick of every play. Then a play started with Conca, found the former Botafogo player in good position in the area.

Cícero, in the 40th., closed the beautiful goleada of the team coached by Renato Gaucho. The triumph of last night left the Rio de Janeiro side in the leadership position of the group, with the same four points as Liga University Deportiva—however, with better performance by goal average.

Arsenal Sarandi had just three points. The Cariocas come back the field on the 19th facing the Libertad, of Paraguay, at the stadium Defending del Chaco de Assunção in Paraguay.

It's not often you see six great goals against a strong team in one match.

This victory of 6-0 is the largest margin ever inflicted by a Brazilian club on an Argentinean one in the history of the Libertadores.

In the other fixture of the night, São Paulo suffered, but managed to defeat Audax  2-1 for Group 7 of the Liberators.

The match, at the Morumbi, was a closed game with goals delaying to come out. The home team attacked in the first half, but could not pierce the blockade.

Audax tried to surprise in the counterattacks. The Chilean team surprised a lot, but only in the second half in the 17th minute, Villanueva made good a play and kicked it in past the goalie Rogério Ceni, opening the score.

A defeat would have been a terrible resulted for São Paulo. In the 30th, however, Jorge Wagner crossed it in the area and Adriano headed to tie up to the match. The emperor would score again in the 39th, when he used good positioning to slot in a rebound off the goalie Villasanti and turned the match around.

Adriano is slowly returning to his former level after a stint in Europe.

With the victory, São Paulo went up four points in the Liberators—with the draw with National in Match one.
